Annual shamanic ritual on the 20th day of the twelfth Bhutanese month at Balakha Lhakhang.
A medium (Pawo) and warriors in traditional dress dance to honor the village guardian deity while chasing away evil spirits. The ceremony is a vivid, unbroken link to Bhutan's pre-Buddhist animistic heritage.
